Event Description
Secretary of
State Colin Powell's endorsement of International Education Week cited
the importance of international education in promoting tolerance and in
building friendship between the United States and other countries.
Following the events of September 11, it has been more critical
than ever to strive to reduce conflicts, support democratic development
and increase understanding through international education and
exchanges worldwide.
For this reason, at UNK we will be hosting
activities Monday, 11/16 through Thursday 11/19 in the Nebraska Student
Union. Each day will showcase a region of the world to include
Latin America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. Over the noon hour,
various speakers will be addressing regional issues in accordance with
the highlighted region of the day. The weeks' activities will
culminate in a closing celebration Thursday evening held at the Alumnae
House.
More information about planned activities during International Education Week 2009 will follow.
* All activities will be free and open to the public.
